Taking the above daily average, the amount due to the Hongkong Government by the Chinese

Government is H.K. 5,608.41

We would point out that the total of $b,731.48 has boon divided by 31 a

day but this should be divisible by oog da, & which covers the period over which the sum was arrived at, (this equals 171.00 per aa, ).

We cannot recommend the Claim maue by the Hongkong Government of $20 per day for loss on late running of trains on the Chinese Section.

No trains were run therefore no loss could have possibly been made, nor can they draw the infer- ence that because trains ran late one month the, should run late indefinitely.

In conclusion we state that in our opinion

the British Government is due from the Chinese

Government the sun of H.K. $5,609.41 as settle- ment of claim for suspension of traffic from 7th November 1911 to 13th December 1911.
